As horticulture educator, Rhonda Ferree inspired citizens in local communities to grow their own food and improve their home landscapes. She focused on high quality, impactful programs that taught homeowners how to create energy-efficient landscapes using sustainable practices that increase property values and help the environment.
After 30 years with University of Illinois Extension, Rhonda retired in 2018.

Rhonda grew up on a hobby farm in Central Illinois where her love for nature and plants began. She spent over 30 years as a horticulture educator with University of Illinois Extension and holds master's and bachelor's degree in horticulture from the University of Illinois. In retirement, Rhonda enjoys writing, gardening and hobbies at home, communicating with nature, yoga, and traveling with her husband Mark. Her passion is discovering great plants during new travel adventures.
